Radara, I have to agree like the actors it's the writing and the other stuff that's rubbing me the wrong way, as the shows would be better without all the other crap they seem to want to move to the forefront. Jodie Whittaker has captured the best qualities of the doctor and added her own spin, she has done out standing i love her. I see many influences from tom Baker to David in her version of the doctor two of my most favorite ones as well. They i think saddled her with too many side kicks right off the bat, and the others just seem to be left out in the cold most of the show sometimes. I just wish they would have added an alien or robot or something as a side kick like they have done in some past ones.
boy doctor who just seems to be getting worse by the episode, this one was just so random weirdness seemed like a short on the sci fi channel just not as good. I am not sure if this show can make it through a season with the writers doing a shit job, still like the main actress, and the others just look like they hate doing the crap lines as well.
Slow burn, the build up is killing me, obviously the kid has massive power in him maybe it's bound or locked away. Maybe his father is a demon and he is a half demon with bound powers. I like this show it's growing on me even with the horrible pooter similarities, "magic school" thing.
If you over look the winning about women oppressed and the fact she has to state it many times in the show, its ok. But the way they portrayed King James was bad, for example "He was strongly committed to a peace policy, and tried to avoid involvement in religious wars, especially the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648) that devastated much of Central Europe.". Now i am not sure what they are trying to do on this show but bashing of men and such is just annoying me. Again the Sci Fi element was almost a back seat to everything else, but started to redeem it's self around the end. If this show had to depend on fans it would have lost many from the start, but being a die hard whovian i am determined to stick with it and hope for better more strong Sci Fi shows in the weeks it have left. The redeeming quality was the main bad gay was a woman and the guy the King was shown as being a bit off track, which was left open but if following history this might have lead to him being as the books say staying out of such religious matters. But the episode is still problematic with many parts and just seems like the writers for the doctor can not make their minds up of what to do with him.
This was a very powerful episode, the emotional tension was so moving that it made me misty eyed, i felt for her mom so much. These actresses are so great and the subject was so serious for a comedy show but they pulled it off., keep so Kleenex with you for this one.
Sounds like a few other Sci fi shows i have watched one on sci fi channel Dark matter here is its premise : When crew members working on a derelict spaceship awaken from stasis, they have no memory of who they are or how they got onto the vessel. The only clues to their identities are weaponry and a destination -- a remote mining colony soon to become a war zone. They must band together to fight off the threats they face on a voyage filled with vengeance, betrayal and secrets that make survival a question mark for all on board the ship. In the wake of a betrayal, the crew is split up. Some are imprisoned, while others are sent away to start a new life. The sci-fi series is based on the graphic novel of the same name, I will watch it and see as not sci fi should be better i hope
@Cand1date and @HanFsc I just hate the fact it was not explained and everyone just accepted it day one, when it was never that way. The doctor should have been more shocked and wondered why and may have said something like that since all the time lords men and women gave him their regeneration that there was a chance he could be female now. Because that's what they did, and I would have been fine with it, they just din't do it that way. Poor story on their part would have been so much better to tell it like i said than to say that they thought it was time for a female doctor. I like her and the actress is amazing and made me fall back in love with the doctor who show again. She has captured the essence of the doctor in her performance that hearkens back to the older days.
so glad to see the prison thing over and arrow back to doing his thing at some point, they seemed to have missed the point of the comic. And have started focusing on everyone else. I think arrow teaming up is good and all but they really need to stop exposing his identity. Not sure where they are going with the story, as the dragon just pops up in small parts, and just feels like they over dramatize the others with the heroes, who are not wearing costumes. The show feels bogged down and they need to stop stretching an arch into an whole season, but flash and the others do the same.. 3 episodes should have been enough with the prison thing, and while that was going on a spit here and there of everyone else. Then in the 4th one have him set free and tell how it was done, then back to reforming a team, with red arrow or arsenal which ever they want to call him. Mr terrific and black cannery, which ever. mad dog can go his character in the comics was never a team player.
Schrunsekris, I don't fallow your rant because i agree with most of it "nobody complained when the bold rich white guy was the bad guy in Superman (who clearly would have been a republican in real life) " this is an assumption on your part and they never stated it in the move. That is what i am taking about the statements are blatant and in your face, and could be more subtle so as they don't over shadow the story or ruin the show. Not sure about the "stereotypes" rant ether as i agree comics are full of them as has always been and like the fact that this episode went ageist type and had a black woman as a person ageist aliens for humans. But all the main male characters are weak or cow down to the women in the show, it's bull shit. I have not seen very many shows to show that the male and female roles are equal, they feel they need to have the men weaker or gimped in some way. The writing and the make up on the show is horrid as well brainy looks like a reject from a old zombie movie. And as to comics the show has deviated so far with the castings and stories of the comics that it is only super girl in the sense that she is the main star. As for getting over it go fuck your self, i am voicing my opinion and will continue to do so so you fucking get over it. Oh and the "Supergirl is a girl and fights for the good that includes surpressed and wrongly treated people" she does but the character does not learn from mistakes and has not really grown much. She still runs off into danger thinking nothing can hurt her and in many of the shows she gets smacked down and almost killed. You would think she would stop just going off half cocked and do a bit of research and thinking planning even before. I keep thinking it may be a kyptonian thing and their brains are just hard wired that way in their genetic code or some thing. "TV Shows are full with stereotypes....Germans are Nazis or wear Lederhosen, Russians are cruel spies who deal with weapons, south americans are ruthless druglords and asian are superevil Ninjas... thats how it was in the past and will be over and over again" not sure what this was reference to maybe the part i said about white people and men but not sure just seems random to me.
